The Blenheim and Community Seniors Group has a challenge on its hands and needs your help.

The Blenheim and Community Seniors Group has over 460 registered members and has outgrown its current location.  Their problem is one they are happy and proud to be struggling with: success.

Presently they can only host 60 people in its largest room but can regularly attract 80 and up to the monthly pot-luck suppers. The facility is not fully handicap accessible and also suffers from a limited kitchen.

The Blenheim and Community Seniors Group plays an important role by providing vital services and social opportunities to the aging residents of this small town and surrounding rural areas.  It is predicted that over just the next 10 years the over 50 demographic will grow by a further 25%.  That will be a lot of new members to serve!

After much soul searching and research the group has concluded it is more cost effective to build a new centre elsewhere rather than expand and bring the existing clubhouse up to code.

To that end a vacant lot near the corner of Jane and Marlborough Streets was purchased. On this site, the Group proposes to build a new facility that is approximately 60′ x 60′, is completely accessible, has parking for 43 vehicles and, meets all current building standards. It will also feature a proper kitchen, lounge area and a 30′ x 60′ hall which will accommodate 180 people for a dinner. The hall will be dividable into 3 smaller rooms to comfortably host concurrent functions.

The accomplish this, the Group must raise $850,000 dollars.

To date, the Group has received funds from 2 local foundations and is waiting to hear from grant applications submitted to the Federal Government and the Ontario Trillium Fund. The remainder must be fundraised.

One half of the $850,000 has already been raised!   The hope is to raise the remainder by May of 2016.
